Description

Job Summary:

The Finance Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role plays a crucial part in supporting Trade Depot's financial health and decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS.
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and external stakeholders.

General Ledger Management:

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
Record and classify financial transactions accurately.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts.
Monitor budget variances and provide analysis.

Account Reconciliation:

Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
Assist in the preparation for audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Financial Analysis:

Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Provide insights into financial performance and trends.

Taxation:

Prepare and file various tax returns.
Stay current with changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance.

Internal Controls:

Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
Identify and address control weaknesses.

Software and Systems:

Utilize financial software and systems to manage and analyze financial data.
Make recommendations for system improvements.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional certification is often preferred.
Previous experience in accounting or finance roles and preparing financial statements.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Ability to adapt to changes in regulations, processes, and technologies.
