I am a dedicated, seasoned, and results-driven Financial Accounting Officer with over 5 years of hands-on experience in bank reconciliation, drafting financial statements (in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards), internal control and compliance, taxation, budgeting, and enhancing partner and donor response strategies. Possess excellent knowledge of financial management, cost control, and operational excellence in the computation of payroll, NHF, NSITF, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory remittances. Clear communicator and exhibits exemplary work ethic and willingness to learn new processes and techniques to enhance business and team efforts. Skilled multitasker, commercially aware, astute interpersonal relationship, and adept ability to work effectively and independently to deliver on short notice and within a team.

Experience

As a Finance Professional, identifying cost-reduction measures for reducing risks, and wastages and ensuring effective internal controls across organizational and donor-funded projects. My work experience in international and indigenous non-governmental organizations provided me with valuable experience in finance for donor-funded programs and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria. I have practical experience in the process of projecting and estimating costs for award implementation, donor reporting, internal control set-up and implementation, monthly financial closeouts, resolution of audit queries, cash forecast and requests for country and state office, and maintenance of asset register, amongst other responsibilities.

I have an excellent working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPs), IFRS, Nigeria’s Finance Act that is statutorily relevant for tax filing and remittances, USAID guidelines for project implementation, and other donor-related guidelines. Over the years, I have applied these guidelines to financial and donor reporting for the different organizations where I have worked. I have also been consistently useful in tax and other statutory remittances and filing for my current and previous employers. I try to keep abreast of new and relevant information in finance as it affects the development sector.

I participated in the office audit process by supporting the response process to all audit queries from auditors, ensuring that documents on the audit list were provided, and ensuring a follow-through process of correcting audit observations in the subsequent financial year. I also assisted my organization in the implementation and compliance with internal controls by ensuring that finance checks are accurately conducted, proper approvals and limits are adhered to, and policies are followed. I participated in meetings to assess project risk areas and how to mitigate them against such through planning and periodical review meetings.

With a strong focus on the implementation and deployment of action plans, I have mitigated numerous risk issues. I am a strong communicator and leader, skilled in building and leveraging networks with key stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams. I have hands-on knowledge of accounting software such as the use of SUN Accounting System (GAS), QuickBooks, SAP, and Tally for posting financial transactions and management maintaining ledgers and books of account. I continuously use these softwares to generate accurate financial and donor reports such as Budget vs. Actuals Reports, Trial balance, Aged Advances reports, Bank Reconciliation Statements, Account class reports, Statements of Profit/Loss, Balance, etc. I also continuously use Microsoft packages such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Access efficiently for data processing, analysis, tracking, and presentation.
