Ikechukwu Ugoji

Ikechukwu Ugoji is a Senior Cybersecurity Consultant with over 15 years experience in banking and Fintech industry. Started as an IT Auditor and moved into Cybersecurity space after 3 years. Served as CISO for 3 banks and the largest Switching company in West Africa (Interswitch Limited).

With a background in Agricultural Engineering, he went on to do his Masters in Business Administration. He has acquired a few cybersecurity and related certifications (CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001 LA, ISO 31000, ISO 27035, ISO 27032, ISO 20000, MCSA, COBIT 5 Implementer).

He has successful developed and implemented Cybersecurity programmes for established banks and start-ups, building and supervising highly functional cybersecurity teams.

He was an active member of the local CISO community, served as a member of the Cybersecurity frameworks and programmes review committee of the CCISO NFI (Committee of Chief Information Security Officers of Nigerian and other Financial Institution) setup by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The committee participated in the review of the Industry Risk-Based Cyber Security Framework.

He believes that humans are the most vital piece in the effectiveness of any cyber security control implementation hence his emphasis on training and awareness.

Ikechukwu also participates on mentorship of young talents in the local community.

I am a senior cybersecurity professional with over 13 years relevant work experience in the banking and FinTech industry. I have supported the following organisations as CISO in the digital transformation journey defining and implementing effective cybersecurity controls and compliance - Interswitch, FCMB, Lotus, GTBank(acting CISO)

My experience also extend to information system auditing for over 3 years. 

I have a bachelor's degree in Engineering from Federal University of Technology Owerri and an MBA from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. I also studies Strategic Business Leadership in Lagos Business school.
