About Ibukun Eesuola:
After my High School, I briefly enrolled for a certificate in Desktop Publishing which made the usage of Computer very fascinating. This therefore led me to obtaining a National Diploma (ND) in Secretarial Studies from the Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun.
In the course of my ND programme, I was introduced to Principles of Accounting and Business, the knowledge acquired only seems to have whet my appetite, this left in me a passion and the yarning to learn and achieve more in Secretarial Studies which culminated in further studies.
Upon the completion of my ND programme, and in my quest for advanced knowledge in Secretarial Studies, I pursed Higher National Diploma (HND) in Office Technology and Management at the same Polytechnic (Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State) where I was introduced to Business Law, Office Administration and Management, Business Communication, Industrial Psychology, Shorthand, Human Resources Management, Company Law, Human Capital Management, Nigeria Labour Law, etc.
By the time I was done with my HND programme, it became so clear to me that the path I was to follow would be that of a Medical Secretary and I was determined on getting a job in a National Health Service here in Nigeria where i gained the following experience as a Medical Secretary:
- Preparing a medical report to patient (s) for treatment outside the country, or making a request for refund purposes.
- Receiving incoming mails and Sorting Outgoing mails for dispatching accordingly.
- Training subordinate staff.
- Filing of documents.
- Organizing meetings, sending out agenda, minutes of meeting as at when due.
- Effective typing of operation list and dispatching to the concerned unit for prompt action.
After having gained sufficient work experience as a Medical Secretary for about 7 years, I wish to amp up my skills through International work experience. Hence, my reason for applying for the post of Medical Secretary in your organization. Also, below are the following further reasons:

As a Medical Secretary in my organization, i.e. (National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi-Lagos, Nigeria), I perform various duties that requires discretion, confidentiality and professionalism. I also play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of an establishment by discharging various duties: -
- Reception Role: Upon my resumption in the morning, I receive and greet visitors, handling phone calls and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Correspondence: I manage incoming and outgoing mails, emails and other communications (messages), ensuring timely and confidential responses.
- Scheduling: It is my duty to assist in organizing appointments, meetings and events for hospital staff and management.
- Record-Keeping: As a Secretary, I do maintain accurate and up-to-date records, files and databases. I also help in preparing and editing confidential documents, such as patient records, test results, and medical reports.
- Office Management: I oversee office supplies, equipment and facilities, ensuring smooth operations.
- Travel arrangements: It is my duty to book flights, hotels and rent cars as needed for management and staff for ease of movement from one point to the other and across the Hospital pathway.
- Preparing Documents: I do prepare reports, presentations and other documents for meeting as needed. i.e. agendas, minutes and other documents for meetings and conferences.
- Confidentiality: While discharging my duties, I maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and documents in line with data protection act 2018 and no information I am privileged to know is disclosed without following the appropriate procedure or consent taken in line with the Hospital policies and protocol.
- Managing Calendars: I keep track of staff management schedules and appointments by ensuring that their tasks are well attended to as at when due in timely manner.
- Compliance: I ensure there is adherence to regulations and maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work i.e. upholding patient privacy and organization and confidentiality in all aspects of work.
- Supporting HealthCare Teams: I provide administrative support to healthcare professionals, allowing them to focus on patients care.
- Discretion and Professionalism: I demonstrate discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information and situations.
- Providing Emotional Support: As a Medical Secretary, I may offer emotional support to patients, families, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Multi-Task and Problem Solving Skills: I have the ability to multi-task, pay attention to details and problem-solving are part of my cardinal points while discharging my daily official duties.

Technical Prowess: I have the proficiency and expertise in using various software applications like (Ms Office, E-mail Management and communication tools), computer systems, and technology tools to perform my duties efficiently and effectively. I am also very good in the use of medical software such as EMR, EHR etc.
Good Communication Skills: I possess the ability to effectively convey information, ideas and messages in a clear, concise and professional manner i.e. (active listening, written communication, verbal communication, professional tone/friendly and respectful, empathy, feedback, non-verbal communication – eye contact, body language and facial expressions).

Attention to Details: I possess the ability of thoroughly and accurately completing tasks, managing data and preparing documents with precision and care. i.e. proofread work
