Henry Agbonika

Henry Anibe Agbonika is an accomplished Policy and Governance Reform Consultant with a reputation for delivering effective and sustainable policy solutions that advance good governance, transparency, and accountability. With extensive experience in the field, he has honed his skills in policy development and analysis, governance reform, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, strategic planning, and program management.

Mr Agbonika has been pivotal in supporting various government initiatives and driving impactful reforms. As a Governance and Policy Reform Consultant at DAI, he has facilitated the smooth transition of power by significantly contributing to the design and implementation of the Presidential Transition Architecture. He has led teams in evaluating the performance of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies under the Federal Government of Nigeria, specifically focusing on fighting corruption and improving governance. His evaluations of sectorial policies for ministries such as Environment and Foreign Affairs have provided valuable insights for enhancing their effectiveness. Recognised ad a sector expert, He has also facilitated regional technical workshops for the National Development Plan, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Prior to his current engagement, Agbonika served as the Head of Policy Intelligence and Innovation at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), where he led stakeholder engagement processes and provided strategic support to initiatives in northern Nigeria. He actively participated in committees and working groups, including the National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council.

His expertise has been sought by international organizations as well. During his tenure as a Technical Adviser for Sustainable Economic Growth at Global Affairs Canada (GAC) Program Support Unit, he provided technical and advisory support to stimulate sustainable economic growth in various sectors, including agribusiness and the extractive industries. 

Mr Agbonika is a PhD candidate in Leadership and Strategic Studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy, working on his dissertation titled "Rethinking National Security Strategy in Nigeria: Imperatives for a New Paradigm." He also possesses an M.A. in Development Communication and a B.A. in English & Literary Studies. Through continuous professional development, he has acquired certifications in research methods, environmental and social frameworks, knowledge management, livelihoods and markets, and more.
