Job role & functions: Communicate and coordinate with management, shareholders, customers, and employees to address sustainability issues. Enact or oversee a corporate sustainability strategy. The first point of contact for LAPO Microfinance Bank Sustainability; responsible for end-to-end sustainability business strategy, climate mitigation implementation adaptions, emissions reduction, Environment Management System implementation, Integrated Management System, and core banking software of the bank projects for the organization.

Talented Corporate Social Responsibility professional who manages and implements CSR and advocacy for the organization and is responsible for CSR policy and framework creation and ensures transparency in community relations, ethics, and values; who acts as the company’s ‘conscience’ championing and developing environmentally friendly as well as socially construct community-minded side of the business like human rights, philanthropy but above all respect for stakeholder interest and the rule of law. Ensuring the organization has positive impacts on communities, and the environment while raising public awareness through marketing, advocacy, research, and best practice.

 

Proficient in the benefits of good governance as a means of fostering sustainability, concerned with structure and processes for decision making and accountability, global best practice, risk mitigation, attracting new investors and shareholders, and the understating that it creates equity, accountability, transparency, fairness, and responsibility.

  • ESG monitoring and reporting:- Collect data and metrics following the reporting standards. Benchmark with industry peers. Prepare the completion and communications of the company ESG report. Incorporating sustainability policies and strategies into the development of sustainability programs yearly sustainability reports, quarterly Board reporting to the LAPO ESG Board and weekly management meetings, organizational culture, and ensuring compliance with regulations. 
  • Overseeing the portfolio of sustainability projects:-  Responsible for Sustainability project management, planning, coordinating, reviewing progress, and tracking results to coordinate various operational efforts in ensuring that mitigation, conformity, and compliance are adhered to and closed out.
  • Reduction of Organizational Carbon footprint:- Formulated and created reporting templates for monitoring, extracting, evaluating, and reporting on the organization's footprint of the organization enabling cost-saving initiatives, reducing cost, and enabling savings that are used for social projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance:- Coordinates and implements corporate sustainability, developing sustainability programs, and ensuring compliance with government regulatory bodies both domestic and international. Fosters external relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies international and domestic financial investors as well as social and environmental stakeholders to provide sustainable outcomes and increase performance.
  • Managing stakeholders’ relationships:_ Promote ongoing dialogue with internal and external stakeholders to develop constructive, transparent relationships leading to synergies that reduce cost and still impact the environment and society in a sustainable manner. 
  • Budgeting:- Responsible for the yearly budget for all implementation of sustainability for the organization with an emphasis on expenditure, tax return, and impact for the organization.
  • Building organizational capabilities:-Identify gaps and adopting appropriate educational initiatives for upskilling and/or sourcing the missing capabilities.
  • Scouting and experimenting:- Promote openness toward the external innovation ecosystem. Explore emerging sustainability technologies, solutions, and practices. Test the applicability and learn from experiments. Scale up adoption in the broader organization.
  • Embedding sustainability into processes and decision-making:- Revise key processes and related criteria/metrics/tools for decisions. Creates a Document database management system for the monitoring and collation of  Coach decision-makers to manage complex trade-offs.
  • Superintend bank-wide OHS:- Directly responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety yearly Audit, OHS national regulation and compliance, conformity and gap analysis, document Management, Hazzard, incident, risk reporting as well as fire drills, and Safety awareness quarterly training for the bank. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Environmental Safety and Health programs which involve the development of strategies to improve the performance of the organization down to the branches in the field in Environmental regulations for the clients as well as the organization.
  • Corporate Social responsibility (C.S.R):- demonstrates a strong ability to exercise solid judgment and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment with high performance in Liaison and Coordination, Community Service, Data Collection analysis and processing, problem-solving, data entry, regulations compliance which include client protection principles, consumer protection compliance exercises by national regulatory bodies.
  • Building organizational capabilities. Identify gaps and adopt appropriate educational initiatives for upskilling and/or sourcing the missing capabilities for staff as well as clients by sharing and communicating innovative ways to scale the new capabilities and best practices.
  • Advocacy: -Directly responsible for managing support and referrals of domestic violence, sexual assault, forced and other crimes against the weak in society supported in liaison with the legal team by providing guidance and connecting the efforts made to a sustainable conclusion for all concerned; most especially the interest of children generally in ensuring government agency accountability.
  • Governance:- Reports directly to the LAPO ESG Board committee, collates quarterly reports and carries out all recommendations in line with Board requests. Ensures that social policies are implemented and approved by the Board (disability, Social Impact Assessment report, Client Protection principles, statutory Board regulations for shareholders, etc.

Reporting Line: Reports directly to the MD LAPO Microfinance Bank and the LAPO ESG Board
