TIME'S ESSENCE

There are several quotes that have been made concerning ‘time’:

"A stitch in time saves nine"

"Time waits for no man"

"Time is money"

“Lost time is never found again"

“Time is the most important thing a man can spend"

These quotes on time portrays the clear importance of time.

Time is an abstract noun, which means it isn't tangible, but that doesn't take away the fact that it is very important; in fact, its important supersedes that of several (many) tangible nouns. According to the offline English dictionary, time refers to “the inevitable progression into the future with the passing of present and past events”. Therefore, time is a constant passing of moments and experiences unto a new or another. 

As earlier stated, time is abstract, meaning its existence is outside the “real” (what you can call ‘the physical’). Therefore, it is safe to say that time exist in the mind. This, nevertheless, does not invalidate the usefulness and importance of time. So, what therefore is the essence of time? We shall find out “in time”.

Time's essence can be found in what we can achieve in time. The importance of time cannot be seen outside what we can do with it, which is basically what we can achieve or attain in it. Time is like a perishable good, its important is in the moment, fleeting, it is great until it isn't (until it perishes), it last as long as it should, waiting to be utilized, and passes away naturally after the moment. Basically, what I mean is that time will always exist but it's important, which is always in a context, has a limited lifespan. The importance of time in yesterday expires today. The importance of time today will expire tomorrow. The opportunities that came with the past for the past has left with the past; that is the importance of time there and then. The opportunities of the present have a calculated lifespan in time, and will definitely expire. I'll give an analogy using myself. When I was younger, I didn't learn to ride a bike, I still have the opportunity to learn to ride a bike now but the joy and experience that comes with riding a bike as a kid has gone with my childhood. Time's value, it's essence is the potential for achievement, the possibility for attainment. Time wasted is time unutilised to achieve something in its moment. Time wasted is time utilized wrongly to achieve something outside its moment. Time wasted is potential, opportunity, and possiblity (to achieve) thrown away.
