Job description
Leadership & Team CollaborationSupervise and mentor junior accountants and finance Associates.
Promote consistency, accuracy, and timeliness in all finance operations.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial and operational objectives.
Act as deputy to the Head of Finance when required, ensuring business continuity.
Financial Reporting & Control
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger postings, reconciliations, and financial transactions.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support the preparation of management accounts, variance analyses, and performance dashboards.
Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and IFRS standards.
Coordinate month-end and year-end closings and ensure timely submissions.
Support the Head of Finance in budget preparation, consolidation, and variance monitoring.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management
Manage daily cash flow operations and ensure adequate liquidity for business activities. Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and cash position reports. Review and authorize payments in line with approval limits and internal controls. Maintain strong relationships with banks and monitor financial transactions for accuracy. Support treasury planning, including fund placements and interest monitoring.
Tax & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements (CIT, VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.). Liaise with FIRS, State IRS, and other relevant authorities on tax matters. Support external and internal audit processes, ensuring timely resolution of issues raised. Maintain accurate documentation for filings, audits, and inspections. Track changes in tax and financial regulations and advise the Head of Finance accordingly.
Cost & Financial Performance Management
Monitor expenditure against budget and highlight cost variances. Analyze operating costs, identify areas for efficiency, and propose cost-saving measures. Collaborate with procurement and operations to ensure financial prudence in spending. Support financial modeling and investment analysis for decision support.
