Role Overview
The Head of Trade-In Business will be responsible for leading and scaling the organization's device trade-in vertical, ensuring efficient operations, strong revenue performance, and sustainable profitability. This role will own the end-to-end trade-in lifecycle, including device acquisition, valuation, liquidation through third-party vendors, sales agent management, and full P&L ownership.
The ideal candidate will combine strong commercial acumen, operational leadership, vendor management expertise, and experience managing field sales or agent-driven acquisition models. This individual will play a critical role in driving growth, optimizing recovery value, and ensuring operational efficiency across the trade-in business.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Leadership & P&L Ownership
- Own and manage the full Profit & Loss (P&L) for the trade-in business, ensuring revenue growth, cost optimization, and profitability.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to scale the trade-in business in alignment with overall company growth objectives.
- Define business targets, KPIs, and performance metrics, and ensure consistent achievement of revenue and margin goals.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, margin recovery, and overall business performance.
Trade-In Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end trade-in operations including device intake, inspection, valuation, processing, and liquidation.
- Establish and maintain efficient operational processes to ensure fast turnaround times and strong customer experience.
- Ensure proper inventory tracking, reconciliation, and reporting across the trade-in lifecycle.
Vendor & Liquidation Management
- Build and manage relationships with third-party vendors responsible for device liquidation and resale.
- Negotiate commercial terms to maximize recovery value and ensure favorable liquidation outcomes.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with agreed service levels and pricing benchmarks.
Sales Agent & Channel Management
- Lead and manage sales agents and field teams responsible for device acquisition and trade-in conversion.
- Develop agent acquisition, onboarding, and performance management frameworks.
- Implement productivity tracking systems to ensure agents consistently meet performance targets.
- Drive expansion of acquisition channels to increase trade-in volumes and market coverage.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Establish reporting structures to monitor business performance, including volume, revenue, recovery rates, and profitability.
- Provide regular performance updates and insights to executive leadership.
- Use data and analytics to inform pricing, operational improvements, and strategic decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with product, finance, operations, and risk teams to ensure smooth integration of trade-in processes.
- Support the development and improvement of trade-in products, policies, and systems.
RequirementsExperience
- 7–12+ years of experience in trade-in operations, device lifecycle management, fintech, telecom, consumer electronics, or related industries.
- Proven experience managing business operations with full P&L ownership.
- Strong experience managing third-party vendors and liquidation channels.
- Demonstrated success managing sales agents, field teams, or acquisition channels.
- Experience scaling operational businesses and driving revenue growth.

- Experience managing device resale, refurbishment, or liquidation ecosystems.
