- Oversee the daily operations of the garden center to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement policies and procedures to maintain operational standards.
- Manage facility layout and presentation, including display arrangements and signage.
- Staff Management:
- Hire, train, and manage garden center staff, ensuring a team that is knowledgeable and capable of providing excellent customer service.
- Schedule staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage during business hours.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and support to employees.
Inventory Management: - Oversee the procurement of plants, gardening supplies, and other inventory items.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure availability of products while minimizing overstock.
- Work with suppliers to negotiate prices, manage delivery schedules, and resolve any quality or supply issues.
Customer Service: - Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service.
- Address customer complaints and queries promptly and effectively.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to customers on plant care, landscaping, and other gardening-related topics.
Financial Management: - Develop and manage the garden center's budget, including sales forecasting, expense control, and profitability analysis.
- Oversee the processing of transactions and ensure accurate cash handling procedures are followed.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
- Marketing, Promotion, and Content Creation:
Marketing - Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
- Organize promotional events and workshops to enhance community engagement and increase foot traffic.
- Manage the garden center's online presence, including website and social media platforms.
- Create engaging content on social media platforms to promote products, provide gardening tips, and build community engagement.
Health and Safety: - Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations to provide a safe environment for both staff and customer
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement measures to mitigate risks.
- Community and Environmental Responsibility:
- Foster relationships with the local community, including schools, community groups, and gardening clubs.
- Implement sustainable practices in garden center operations, promoting environmental responsibility.
Requirements: - A degree in horticulture, business management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a garden center or related field.
- Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping principles.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Financial acumen and experience with budget management.
- Working Conditions:
The role requires a combination of indoor and outdoor work, with variable weather conditions.
Weekend, holiday, and extended hours may be necessary, especially during peak gardening seasons.
