    Job Title: Building Engineer

    Reports To: Project Manager / Head of Construction or CEO

    Location: Lagos / Ogun State

    Department: Construction & Project Development

    Job Purpose

    The Building Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all construction activities on-site to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Project Planning & Execution

    • Interpret architectural drawings, site plans, and specifications for effective implementation.
    • Develop and monitor project schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines.
    • Supervise daily site operations and ensure compliance with design, quality, and safety standards.

    2. Site Management

    • Oversee all affairs of the construction site, including workers, vendors, and subcontractors.
    • Conduct headcounts of artisans and workers at the start and close of work daily.
    • Maintain site protocol and enforce security measures to safeguard personnel, materials, and equipment.

    3. Quality Assurance & Control

    • Ensure all construction work is carried out with excellence, neatness, and in line with industry standards.
    • Inspect and measure completed work to confirm quality and compliance with specifications.
    • Monitor the use of tools and materials to minimize waste and encourage reuse where possible.

    4. Resource & Vendor Management

    • Collaborate with the storekeeper to ensure accurate record-keeping of materials.
    • Track material usage daily and provide reports to management.
    • Negotiate with artisans and vendors in line with the company's QS analysis and budget.

    5. Health & Safety Compliance

    • Ensure all artisans and workers are properly kitted with required personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing health, safety, and environmental standards.

    6. Reporting & Communication

    • Provide daily, weekly, and periodic progress reports (written, verbal, and video) to management.
    • Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure project alignment with company goals.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or related field.
    • Professional certification (COREN, NSE, or equivalent) is an advantage.
    • Minimum of 10years' experience in construction, site supervision and building engineering.
    • Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
    • Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office Suite.
    • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within deadlines.
