- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including income, expenses, and donations.
- Prepare and monitor budgets in collaboration with the finance team to ensure sound financial planning.
- Assist with the management of the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with grantor requirements where required.
- Assist with generating regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders to provide insight into the organization's financial health.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and donor requirements, and prepare for and assist with audits.
- May be required to communicate with donors regarding financial matters, provide transparency, and address donor inquiries.
- In conjunction with the HR Department, manage employee payroll, benefits, and tax-related issues, including compliance with labor laws.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining internal financial controls to prevent fraud, and mismanagement, and ensure responsible financial practices.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for financial improvement.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Contribute to long-term financial planning and strategy to support the organization's sustainability and growth.
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Possessing ICAN or ACCA will be an added advantage.
- 5 – 7-years' experience as an accountant, preferably in an NGO or non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft 365 is an added advantage).
- Understand accounting principles, financial regulations, and budgeting
- Ability to gather and interpret financial data and solve financial challenges
- Ability to maintain accuracy in record-keeping and auditing
- Knowledge and usage of efficient accounting software and Excel for data analysis.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Must possess high ethical standards and transparency.
- Knowledge of auditing procedures and compliance requirements.
- Ability to prepare and monitor budgets, support financial planning.
- Stay updated on financial industry trends and pursue professional development.
- Knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.
