RESPONSIBILITIES
Job SummaryTheStock Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of inventory management within a construction company. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of stock control, from procurement and receiving to tracking, valuation, and reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and construction inventory specifics.Duties Manage the entire inventory lifecycle, including procurement, receiving, storage, issuance, and disposal of construction materials and supplies. Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of materials at competitive prices. Maintain accurate and detailed inventory records using a computerized inventory management system. Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records to identify and resolve discrepancies. Manage stock valuation using appropriate costing methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, average cost). Generate comprehensive inventory reports for management, including stock levels, usage trends, and cost analysis. Identify and implement strategies to minimize stock waste, obsolescence, and shrinkage. Oversee stock control procedures and ensure compliance with internal control policies. Work collaboratively with project managers and site crews to ensure efficient material delivery and usage on construction projects. May participate in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a senior inventory accounting role, preferably within the construction industry. Proven experience in managing and controlling construction inventory. Strong understanding of accounting principles and inventory costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, average cost). Proficiency in accounting software and inventory management systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
