Description

• Set up and operate the Milling equipment's in line with set procedures and maintain safety practices during milling operations.
• Responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the rice milling machine from raw material received to actual conversion into high quality rice products.
• Responsible for operating and maintaining the rice mills.
• Ensure all standard operating procedures (SOP's) are to be followed pertaining to milling operation.
• Ensure cleaning of cyclone at desired interval for smooth operation of mill.
• Ensure all checks to be conducted as per checklist & maintain records on day-to-day basis.
• Coordinate with Quality Control team to ensure quality parameters to be maintained on a regular basis.
• Ensure with warehouse team for bagging operation stacking of bags.
• Ensure weight of filled bags at regular interval & maintain records.
• Attend down time & bring back machine in operation in optimal time.
• Reporting & recording shift activity after completion of shift operation.
• Identification & preparation of spare parts & consumables requirement pertaining to milling section.
• Taking care of schedule maintenance.
• Operate rice mill machines at the best capacity, to ensure the best quality rice is always achieved.
• Load and run the mill machine for a specified period of time until desired quality of rice is obtained.
• Discharged mill contents and maintain regular production records.
• Regulate the flow of rice into the machine frequently considering the load on the driving electric motor of the machine.
• Ensure proper sanitary practice by conducting constant cleaning and hulling processes.
• Conduct batch tests on milled rice texture and adjust machinery when necessary to ensure rice is processed in accordance with specifications.
• Check the by-product of the milled rice at regular intervals to avoid loss of good rice and excessive waste.
• Ensure routine cleaning of sieve and replacement of rubber rolls when required.
• Maintain strict adherence to all work instructions regarding milling operation and the use of milling equipment.
• Performs maintenance duties such as lubricating equipment and primary repairing of the machinery.
• Maintain production log and keep an hourly or batch by batch production report.
• Ensure that the output is produced as per required quality standard.
• Monitor boiler water and fuel levels, adjusting and activating valves as necessary to keep the boiler operational.
• Identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components such as valves, gauge and other boiler parts as required.
• Obtain replacement parts, upgrade components, and perform necessary repairs and replacements while staying within the budget.
• Create and enter properly documented records of inspection, maintenance routines and repairs.
• Maintain safe operations by ensuring adherence to the boiler operating procedures.
• Inspect safety devices daily, running tests and reporting any unusual situations.
• Monitor and identify potential issues that could impact safety and take appropriate steps including suspending operations where necessary to fix the problem.
• Manage Milling room, the milling machine, and related facilities, ensuring clean, safe, functional, and organized work areas always.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain records of operation, fuel, and water levels, completed maintenance and other data.
• Keep abreast of latest developments and technology relevant to milling operations and provide recommendations for overhauls and upgrades.
• Supervise team of assistant operators and mechanics by delegating repair, maintenance and monitoring tasks, scheduling jobs, proving appropriate instruction, and giving constructive feedback on performance.
• Manage the activities of casual workers in different section of the rice mill and ensure safety rules are observed in the plant.
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

• A Bachelors Engineering Degree or Higher National Diploma in Food science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering or preliminary degree required for the role with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Degree or Lower Division, respectively.
• 5 years and above experience operating machinery in the food and agri processing industry
• Experience operating and maintaining milling machines.
• In-depth knowledge of rice milling and parboiling machines
• In-depth understanding of technical trouble shooting of industrial machine

• Good knowledge on quality standards associated with milling machines and parboiling.
• Good working knowledge with rice processing operations
• In-depth knowledge of Milling operations and maintenance
• Good knowledge with boiler operating procedures
• Development of safety manuals, operation guides, policies, and procedures
• Ability to work minimally with little supervision.
• Problem solving and critical analysis.
• Thorough understanding of gauges, dials, valves, and other parts of the boiler equipment.
• Ability to solve technical problems.
