    Under the general supervision of the Emergency Manager, the Programme Specialist – Humanitarian Cash Transfers and Shock-Responsive Social Protection (SRSP), will build on the lessons learned from an anticipatory action pilot carried out in Kaduna State in Northwest Nigeria in 2022 by rolling out a cash preparedness initiative in Jigawa State, also in Northwest Nigeria.

    The Programme Specialist shall also provide strategic guidance to enable the country office to engage relevant national and local authorities in view of strengthening the government's shock-responsive nature of social protection systems.

    Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Project Design and Coordination
  • Monitor cash-related budgets
  • Provide strategic guidance
  • Ensure internal coordination and mapping
  • Strengthen fundraising
  • Inter-agency participation in cash transfer and shock-responsive social
  • Track the risk management components of cash transfers,
  • Follow and enhance the learning of the country office
  • To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

  • An Advanced University degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, international law, international relations, international development, economics, business administration, or other related disciplines is required.
  • A relevant first-level university degree (Bachelor's), plus 2 years of relevant work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience at the national and international levels in programme/project development, humanitarian cash transfers, and social protection are required.
  • Previous experience with humanitarian cash transfers and/or shock-responsive social protection programming is required.
  • Project management experience is highly desirable.
  • Government engagement on issues related to social protection or humanitarian coordination is highly desirable.
  • Work experience in an emergency context is an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, identify solutions to overcome bottlenecks, and deliver high-quality results on time.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
