    Description

    Responsibilities:

    Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare, consolidate and deliver reliable and timely financial statements/reports for the company's various business segments to the Board of Directors, Senior Management team, regulators, and other stakeholders ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements (e.g IFRS, FIRS).
  • Maintain a deep understanding of financial reporting requirements specific to asset management, fixed income, inter-dealing, loan book management and oil and gas sector.
  • Establish and lead the finance function with deliverables cutting across treasury, tax, statutory and management accounting, financial control, and internal and external reporting.


    Strategic Analysis:

  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making, including investment strategies, risk assessment, and market trends.
  • Collaborate with senior management to assess financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.


    Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with industry specific regulations, reporting standards, and tax requirements.
  • Liaise with relevant external organizations including regulatory organizations, external auditors, banks etc..
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to financial reporting practices.


    Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Facilitate the annual budgeting process of the organization by working with other departments and investee companies.
  • Assist in the development and management of annual budget and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Develop cash flow projections and ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization's operations and planned investments.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide explanations and recommendations as needed.



    Intercompany Transactions:

  • Handle the full set of accounting functions including AR, AP, bank reconciliation, counterparty, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances within the group's entities, addressing any discrepancies.


    Auditing and External Reporting:

  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address audit queries.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders as required.


    Process Improvement:

  • Implement policies to effectively manage working capital.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with documented system of finance policies and procedures across the group.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


    Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, compliance, operations, and sales, to gather relevant data and insight for reporting


    Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (master's degree, ACCA, ACA, CIMA). CFA is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 6 years' auditing/accounting experience in financial institutions (Asset Management, Fixed Incomes, Banking, Audit, Private Equity, Insurance e.t.c). Additional exposure to the oil and gas sector is an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS) and industry-specific regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting/financial software packages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and develop team members
