Job Title: Sous Chef

Location: Victoria Island (VI), Lagos

Salary: ₦340,000 Gross Monthly

Job Summary
The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high food quality, consistency, hygiene standards, and efficient workflow. The role requires a hands-on professional with strong culinary skills, leadership ability, and experience in managing kitchen teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and executing high-quality meals across all menu offerings.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, assign duties, and ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented according to established standards, recipes, and portion control.
  • Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation before service.
  • Enforce strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist with inventory control, stock rotation, and minimization of foodwaste.
  • Support menu development, specials, and continuous improvement of kitchen offerings.
  • Train, mentor, and discipline kitchen staff when necessary.
  • Step in for the Head Chef when required to ensure uninterrupted kitchen operations.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 3–5 years professional kitchen experience, with at least 1–2 years in a Sous Chef or senior kitchen role.
  • Formal culinary training or relevant certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen best practices.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Experience in hotels, restaurants, or fine dining establishments is highly preferred.
