About Mercy Ohikhena:
My Profile
My name is Ohikhena Mercy Ifeoma. I live in Nigeria and also from Nigeria . I have been delivering credible health care assistance to registered Nurses to Patients with provision of clinical care in a safe environment within both in patients and out patients settings.
My interest in a Career in Health was ignited after experiencing and seeing my father suffer so much pain during a protracted long illness and the empathy of the care provider and selflessness effort to ensure my father got back to his feet.
Due to my various work experiences also online training I can communicate effectively through speaking, writing and I can deliver my findings or observation without excluding important details to the trained Nurses for their perusal.
I have the ability to prioritize, organize work in a busy environment because of previous experience at a Government Hospital where you attend to different numbers of patients.
Working and caring for older people at their homes has become a great strength for me because my organization believes that a patient at its recovery stage heals at the comfort of their with those they love. With this carers are assigned to deliver care to patients home. These care gives the patient the assurance that their healing process is in safe hands. The care offered includes bathing, the patient both on bed and shower, Assisting in dressing, toileting or using of bed pan. Preparation of meals, catheter removal, transferring from bed to wheelchair also ensuring their medication is being taken.
Due to my work experience in the Hospital am able to use various medical equipment like Sphygmomanometer, pulse oximeter, catheter, wheel chair etc. With these I can undertake specific clinical activities and record vital signs of the patient like blood pressure reading, pulse rate, temperature, respiratory rate, weight, height etc. At times venepunctures and under the supervision of trained Nurses.
Am able to take initiative in decision making and know when to contact my supervisors in the case of changes in condition or when the environment has a negative impact on the patient, I also have a good rapport with the Patients and I make sure that confidentiality is not compromised. I respect their boundaries and ensure I work in a professional way not jeopardizing my own boundary which should be professional.
I would comfortable work as a support or care worker, due to the skills and potential I possess. I am patient, understanding, caring, empathetic, I pride myself on work ethic and practicality. I understand the importance of confidentiality, keeping patients dignity intact at whatever stage of their illness.
