With about 20 years of music-related experience, and over 17 years as a teacher, I am confident in my ability to become an asset to any prospective employer. I have acquired both a Diploma in Music Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. As part of personal development efforts with reference to current trends in the industry, I recently attended the US Global Teaching Dialogue with a certificate. This is in addition to several seminars on different aspects of teaching: Music in The Classroom: ”A Global Perspective”, ‘Music of Other World Cultures’, ‘Professionalism in the Workplace’, ‘Child Protection and  Global Safeguarding Policies’, among others. 

As a versatile individual, I have had the opportunity to hold a number of professional roles including Music Teacher, Musician Instructor, and Private Music Instructor, Performance Director, House Leader in Inter-house Sports competitions, Secretary of our school’s Disciplinary Committee. Through these experiences, I have been fortunate enough to educate and lead a diverse group of elementary and middle school students and teachers, who functioned below- and on grade level. I currently teach young children between KG 4-9 and it has been fun teaching them.

My goal is to instill a sense of music appreciation, self-awareness and confidence, while at the same time teaching students about the technical aspects of music. Furthermore, I strive to expand children's interests by organizing field trips, Talent discovery shows and competitions, integrating multicultural lessons, and incorporating a wide range of activities, manipulative, and cooperative learning projects. By utilizing these effective methods, I am able to reach out to each student, introduce new concepts, foster a fun learning environment, and help students blossom into well-rounded individuals.

As a child, participating in several moonlight plays with peers, made me passionate about music and so, I determined to pursue a career as a musician. Having worked hard to gain academic and practical experience in the field I am confident that I have the ability to succeed in teaching the subject to learners of different levels. At the high school, my passion for music made me to join the dance and cultural groups. I also engaged in performing several African folk tune with my friends while we had several musical presentations during graduation ceremonies. It has been in musically related subjects where I have performed best.

As with anyone who is pursuing a career within the field, studying various instruments and music theory has also constituted a large element of my extra-curricular activities. My favourite instruments are clarinet, violin, piano, recorder and saxophone. 

It is performing and sharing my love of music with others that has truly inspired me, however, and I have taken every opportunity to gain experience where possible. I am currently a Music Educator, co-trainer and choir director at Chrisland Schools Limited. This has offered the opportunity to train and present learners for performances at talent shows, assemblies, graduation ceremonies, Christmas Concerts and so on. While my love of music and my dedication to developing my skills in the field may well dominate both my educational and extra-curricular activities, I also find time to indulge my desire to play a valuable role in my community, arranging regular fundraising events. I am also a keen traveller with a limitless curiosity about the world, having visited various states within my country, both with school and family. I have trained candidates for the ABRSM and MUSON Examinations and different grade levels with outstanding results. 

As my achievements within the field suggest, I am a hardworking and dedicated teacher and leader with the passion and ability to make a real contribution as a musician. While I have worked hard to gain the relevant academic knowledge to ensure I can perform to a high level across the different groups of learners. I t is my skill in performing, and communicating my enthusiasm to others both through playing and teaching, that will continue to motivate me to achieve my future goals in the field.
