Ivy Fidelia Basil-Ofili

A Lawyer and senior-level professional with over 15years of a proven track record in project coordination and management within the NGO and development sector across national, sub-national, state, and community levels.  A human rights defender advocate, gender equality/inclusion and  safeguarding expert that has led teams at INGOs, civil society networks/ coalitions particularly on project management, SGBV, rule of law, good governance, humanitarian assistance, peace and security, access to justice and police accountability, criminal justice reforms, Migration trafficking and reintegration, TVET and Job promotion, reporting and policy research consulting, with deep knowledge of the non-profit sector; and  having raised and managed $1 million+ in grants and worked with diverse NGOs, policy-makers, government agencies, donors, justice institutions, the media, communities and development partners both at national, subnational, regional and global levels, I believe I can undertake the assigned position that will help move the organization forward. 

Some of my experiences cuts across human rights violations, particularly women and children, Campaigns for gender equality, women’s human rights, protection against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), Child safeguarding, Sexual Harassment in workplaces and Gender inclusion. I have also advocated for reforms at national, regional, and international level particularly international advocacy at the UNHRC such as the UPR, HRDs, CEDAW and the African Commission

 With my vast experience and knowledge within the development sector, I have been able to develop the ability to work with different sector of government, State and nonstate actors, networking skills, multi-cultural setting and multi-locations; sensitive political, cultural and religious issues that cuts across different partnerships and also extensive experience in the implementation of different programs funded by donors such as ILO, J4A of DFID, FCDO, MacArthur, OSIWA, OSJI, British Council, UNICEF, UNWOMEN, UNFPA, UNDP, Coffey International, International Service for Human Rights. (ISHR), Pathfinder International, Joint civic defense Fund, AWDF, Foundation for a Just Society, Protection International, Palladium, GIZ, EU, German Cooperation etc. 

With my years of experience, I have built my capacity in stakeholder mapping, preparation of problem analysis framework, identifying paths to influence stakeholders, developing detailed monthly and annual budget and operational plan for advocacy/engagement activities. I have excellent skill in working with Monitoring and Evaluation team particularly on tracer studies, team management with a specialty in instilling teamwork spirit among the team members to achieve set objectives, Institutional capacity building, Advocacy packaging and implementation, and community mobilization. 

In the course of my work, I was instrumental to the processes, establishment, and development of the first Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Nigeria and second in West Africa - The Mirabel Centre, 2013 and the Nana Khadija Centre, Sokoto 2020.  I also led and advocated for the process to set up the first Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) in Lagos State.  Setting up of the first Sexual offences court, TWG on Trafficking, etc. I have experience working with different donors such as DFID-J4A, MacArthur Foundation, OSIWA, British Council, FCDO, UNwomen, UNICEF, Ford Foundation, Palladium and GIZ, German Cooperation which I feel I have the required expertise for said position/vacancy.

As a Senior Technical and Reintegration Advisor /Coordinator at the Programme for Migration and Development, Nigerian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration, I have great skills in sustainable reintegration support and measure for returnees, refugees and Internally Displaced persons. This is done through transnational calls and counselling, Mental health and  psychosocial support counselling, family tracing and Sustained Employment promotion and Socio- Economic and Reintegration measures within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, through partnership and engagement with public and private sector stakeholders; enhanced Active Labour Market Measures, such as short-term skills in trainings and capacity building for returning migrants, potential returnees, vulnerable women, internally displaced places,  refugees and PWDs over the last 3years. 

I am proficient in mentoring staff especially the weak ones to ensure that the organizational unit’s performance goals and standards are maintained. I am an innovative problem-solver, with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing high-quality results. Eager to always learn, sensitive to cultures in the community, and adopt new ideas to change situations positively. She has a very strong technical understanding and experience in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects.

I have a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from University of Lagos, LLB from Nigeria Council of Legal Education, Nigeria Law School, Abuja, and a Law degree (BL) from the University of Benin, UNIBEN with over 13years experience on senior-level professional with a proven track record in project coordination and management within the NGO/development sector and across national, sub-national, state, and community levels, I feel I have the required expertise for said position/vacancy
