About Gbenga Orugun:
I started my professional career in IT in the early 2001 before making a career switch to Supply Chain & Logistics. My supply chain career started in 2003 with a logistics service provider that was responsible for the procurement & logistics for Dunlop Nig Plc & DN Meyer before joining GMT Nigeria Ltd in 2005. GMT is one of the biggest Logistics service provider in Nigeria till date.
I was with GMT for 13 years managing logistics for top multinationals like Guinness, Unilever, Diageo, Flour Mill, Lafarge, etc. While in GMT, I functioned in the following capacity:
1) Senior Logistics Officer
2) Logistics Key Account Manager
3) Supply Chain Manager.
I led the supply chain operations of GMT between 2016 and 2018 where I developed & implemented various supply chain strategies; management reports, KPI dashboards that had great impact on GMT's service delivery and bottom line. During this period, I was fully responsible for managing the logistics operations for over 75 clients.
In 2018, I left for one of the biggest beverage manufacturer in Nigeria (Seven-Up Bottling Company) in 2018 as the Supply Chain Manager overseeing Import, export & International Procurement of the business. I was responsible for end-to-end Capex import; raw material supplies, regulatory compliance with all government agencies amongst other related tasks. I ensured 7Up benefitted from all the various incentives available from the government - Import Duty Exception Certificate (IDEC), Export Expansion Grant (EEG), etc.

Responsible for international procurement of all Spares, Machinery & Raw Material across the 9 Plants in Nigeria; Manage exports of drinks and RGB through the road and seaport to SBCN customers across the West African Coast

- Secured a Within 8 months of coming on board SBCN, I engineered a drastic cost reduction on shipping/Demurrage/ terminal charges from N498,966/TEU to N175,580/TEU. Savings of N58.86M in the last quarter of 2018 when compared to previous quarter.

- Despite the huge congestion at the ports in 2017, I successfully led teams that took delivery of 23,900 TEUs (17,422 containers) to various warehouses.
- Maintained steady flow of goods into the various warehouses of our customers through effective communication and good visibility of stock level at the warehouses.
- Led a team that developed performance tools (Various Reports, dashboards, KPIs for the departments.
- Led the Compliance Team working on ISO 9001:2015 certification (Quality Management System) and was the M.R (Management Representative) driving the process for GMT Nig Ltd
- Achieved an average of 7 days berth to TDO time in 2017 despite the port congestion.
- Cut down volume of queried orders by about 15% in 2017 compared to 2016.
- Achieved the best operational performance (25% increase in 4th quarter of 2016 as against the 3rd quarter performance) through streamlining of the business processes, high level automation of tasks, cutting down operational waste, staff training, etc.
- Successfully managed and was responsible for training a large team of over 50 personnel since June, 2016 turning out improved service delivery to clients.

This feat led to the award of 90% job allocation to GMT.
- As a freelance Supply Chain facilitator for the leading supply chain Academy in Lagos, I have enhanced knowledge of over 100 supply chain professionals preparing for certification in supply chain management from 2015 to 2018.
