About Daniel Ago:

Growing up in a third-world country like Nigeria predisposed me to a deeper understanding of the struggles and plight of an average person in this part of the world, the middle class barely exists and the government is rather overwhelmed by the geometric increase of the vulnerable and less-privileged people as a result of bad policy, corruption, and poor implementation that often lead to crisis and war.  My desire is to use every resource in my reach both intellectual and material to bring succor to this turmoil.  This informed my 15 years of service with community and children’s care center (Back2Back.org) an American international children’s care NGO in Nigeria where I served as the country director for 10 years. I am craving for a wider reach and a bigger platform to make a sustainable impact hence my wish to join the UN in this regard. Even though I have engaged myself in a lot of humanitarian work in the past and present, I still make time to join the Red Cross as a volunteer with Detachment 7 here in Jos, Plateau state. This gave me an opportunity to serve voluntarily without expectations, biases, or sentiments. I also serve as the State coordinator of the Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON) Plateau State, I was responsible for the coordination of about 25 distinct orphan care organizations and more than 50 orphan homes with more than 700 children in direct care and more than 3000 indirect care across the state. I was managing the partnership between the homes and donors and also liaising between the homeowners and government authorities.

My background is in criminology and security studies, with professional masters in entrepreneurship and M.Sc. in Peace and Conflict Resolution.  My diploma in computer science also gives me vast knowledge in computing, specifically website and database development.

I believe my 12 years of service with the Plateau State House of Assembly as a legislative staff has given me a deep understanding of government and how laws and administrative precedence are set up and implemented,  Buttressing my experience is my present job as the director of an international humanitarian non-governmental organization for 10 years, These I believe had accorded me the required experience needed to deliver in many jobs

I am a self-starter, a galvanizer, and a self-motivator. I work well and perform great in hard conditions with tight datelines, I have learned over these years to manage pressure from my superiors and subordinates.   My resilience is always inspired by my mission as stated above
