The role of a healthcare assistant requires an individual who is patient and able to remain calm in stressful situation. These two abilities are part of what make a good parent. Raising my daughter over the last two years has helped me build these characters as well as others such as showing love, giving support, showing respect, and setting limits. I learnt first-hand how to care for the needs of another individual; the learning curve was made easier by the fact that I grew up in a big family home where I had lots of nieces and nephews around and had to help care for them.
 My first degree in Primary Education, where in addition to learning the theoretical aspect, I also had to take some practical classes, taught me a lot about the early childhood education. The fact that the need of every child differs and a situation or circumstance that will help a child thrive might not do same for another, hence the importance of understanding individuals and their respective needs. This knowledge has helped me not only with children but also in my dealings with people in general; I have come to understand the complexity but yet simplicity of people. Complex because no two people are the same but simple because understanding a person is all it takes to help them thrive.
When my father fell ill with kidney disease, it was only natural that I took care of him, and this gave me so much joy and fulfilment though it was also painful to see him ill and sometimes in pain; I was glad I could make him comfortable in his last days. In addition, I knew he was happy knowing he could still do things he loved and do it with people who loved and cared about him. When he passed, I realised I wanted to ensure that I gave same joy and happiness to people in their low times, this I have being doing for the last nine years and enjoying every bit of it.
I believe that I am a perfect fit for the role of the healthcare assistant; my past work experience, educational background, taking care of my father, recent trainings in care certifications and continuous yearning to learn and improve myself, in addition to my passion for caring for people will help me achieve this fit.
