About Bitrus Hafsat:

I am a graduate of Human Anatomy from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri. I have 6years working experience on nutrition with International Medical Corps(IMC), UNICEF, Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF) and Five Teams Initiative(5Fi) as a Community Nutriruin Mobilizer (CNM) and as well as a Nutrition Volunteer. I am currently working as a Mobile Nurse (Nutrition And Health Worker) with Save the Children International (SCI). I have knowledge of Gender Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection, Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM), Community Management of at risk Mother and Infant under the age 6months (C-MAMI), Maternal, Infant and Young Child Feeding (MIYCF) among others. I have good communication, listening and learning skills.

Save the Children as a Mobile Health and Nutrition Nurse

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Improving basic preventive health care at community level with emphasis health, immunization, health and nutrition services

• Conduct & undertake PHC like consultation & provide proper treatment based on the protocol

• Strengthening of early referrals mechanism

• Plan and implement project outlined in the protocol for OTP and SC to achieve objectives of the project.

• The health and nutrition nurse will help facilitate admission of the patient at the OTP, and SC.

• Ensure each and every admitted child receives adequate and quality clinical and nutritional care through existing resources.

• Ensure at all times adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary nutritional and clinical requirements – Plumpy’nut, Vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment’s, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc.

• Assisting the planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community

• Support communities to increase their knowledge and skills through training, exposure and joint action

• Use a variety of extension methods, which are suited to the situation, and build the capacities (knowledge, and skills) of communities

FIVE TEAMS INITIATIVE (5TEi) as a GBV/ Protection Focal Person (Volunteer)

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Contributes to the development of new interventions on the basis of identified needs

• Represent the organization before partners, authorities and local actors involved in GBV/SRH through regular participation at appropriate coordination meetings and ad-how events required 

• In collaboration with Program Manager, provides training and technical support to the health team as per the identified needs. 

• Ensures that sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services and activities follow PUI health policy and intervention framework, align with established national guidelines, and reflect internationally accepted standards. 

• Provide technical guidance and coordination for SRH programmed, including family planning

• Work with the project team to support integration of GBV/SRH services into HIV and other initiatives, as appropriate 

• Devise strategies to reach underserved populations with GBV/SRH services 

• Ensure that integrated SRH services address gender issues, including considering SRH and other support needs of survivors of physical violence or sexual assault. 

• Contribute to regular programmatic and donor reports and document programmatic lessons learned

• Promote quality assurance and monitor adherence to international and national SRH guidelines 

• Ensuring daily and quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of GBV related projects and interventions

Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF) as a GBV Volunteer

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring daily and quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of GBV related projects and interventions

• Engage with the community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps in GBV programming

• Support GBV cases received at the center and identified in the community through the provision of case management services to respond to the needs of clients and provide them information and resources to access services and make appropriate referrals to other service providers

• Incorporate a survivor/client-centered approach in all center activities

• Work closely with GBV volunteers to ensure awareness of  services in the community and facilitate referrals into and out of the community center and also support clients on GBV protection related needs

• Assess the knowledge and utilization of health and other services available for survivors

• Engage in continuous professional development for the purpose of increasing the quality and depth of my work

• Alert GBV team leaders and GBV Manager of any gap in the process, tools or staff capacities to meet the needs of clients or ensure confidentiality and survivor centered-case

Center for Population and Reproductive Health (CPRH) as GBV/SRH Community Volunteer

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ethically and confidentially document client information through accurate filling of intake forms and ensure confidential and safe storage

• Creating awareness on Sexual Reproduction Health (SRH) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) from house to house

• Referral of SRH/GBV cases to the Health facility

• One on one education of the following: family planning, STI treatment, ante-natal and postnatal care, safe delivery, and clinical care for sexual assault survivors

• Submitting daily report timely

United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) as Community Nutrition Mobiliser(CNM)

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• As a Community Mobilizer, I provide life-saving information to mothers on food and general hygiene, exclusive breastfeeding, child-care and optimal infant and young child feeding practices

• I have developed, built and maintained relationships with stakeholders, dissemination of advocacy messages, ensures that communities are involved in all phases of programming

• I built effective relationships with colleagues, external partners and supporters, systemic identification and documentation of cases, conducting community sensitization

• I represent the organization during community or interagency stakeholders meetings and support the implementation of initiatives.

• Referral of Acute and moderate malnourished children to OTP

• Also established support group for caregivers such as pregnant women, nursing mothers young girls of bearing age, and grandmothers.

• I also help mothers to access to essential and quality maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition services by educating them on the importance of those services.

International Medical Corps (IMC) as a CMAM Screener

TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support group educating families on health and nutrition related topics 

• Daily MUAC screening and weight measurement of acute and moderate malnourished children

• I provide life-saving information to mothers on food and general hygiene, exclusive breastfeeding, child-care and optimal infant and young child feeding practices

• Weekly operations at the OTP site by MUAC screening, taking of child’s weight, recording to see if there is or there by IMC
