Collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patient’s need for prosthetic services and communicate clearly on appropriate treatment plans.
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with staff, patients, referrals, payers, and others, and maintain them over time.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, prosthetic componentry and its suitability and reliability for specific uses.
Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to trauma, disease, and functional loss, and formulate the appropriate design of prosthetic devices.
Take measurements, create accurate casts or digital models, make appropriate model modifications, and perform prosthetic fabrication and fittings, including static and dynamic alignments.
Evaluate prosthetic devices on patients, adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
Instruct patients in the use of prosthetic devices.
