About Ade Masha:
I am a curious and collaborative individual who has lived and studied business and finance management in England with a career trajectory that includes an executive administrative assistant position at an international school. Ultimately, my goal is to be a leader in building work communities founded on respect, integrity and an openness to others. I am confident that my past work experiences, my commitment to honoring different cultures make me an ideal candidate for the Executive Personal Assistant role in your organization.
My work experience has deepened my understanding of effective ways of managing people. In my current administrative work with the American International School of Abuja in Nigeria, I work with over 100 local hires and 56 foreign nationals, including expat teachers from around the world, a combination that enriches our educational community but also poses unique challenges for our work environment. We are a school whose student population includes more than 40 nationalities. Our students are both local scholarship recipients and children of parents who work for embassies, NGOs, and global corporations. Our employees include international recruits who live in provided housing and local hires who wait in line sometimes hours for gasoline to fill up their tank in order to drive to school. As I am often the first person that visitors and new employees meet upon arrival, it is my responsibility to foster a welcoming environment where everyone feels validated in their roles and the histories they bring to our school. My position also requires that I have a general understanding of all aspects of the management of our organization, including ethical practices, operations, marketing, performance, Board communication, and personnel. I am a leader in our school in understanding the needs and feelings of my colleagues and in assuming responsibility when a problem surfaces and a solution must be found. Over my 8-year tenure, I have gained a new appreciation for the complexities of managing such a diverse community and the critical need to maintain an ethically-healthy environment for everyone. I am ready to apply this practical experience to your organization.
I also have a strong commitment to honoring different cultures, as I view such a commitment as the lynchpin in the performance of an organization. I have worked and studied in both Nigeria and England, two countries with very different histories, cultural and economic realities. My connection to both of these cultures defines both my personal identity and the unique perspective I bring to a workplace. The constructs of ethnic and gender and social stratification are an intuitive part of the way I view my world and integral in my work philosophy.
