Abubakar Dembo

As the Director at Petroleum Training Institute, I lead the internal audit function and oversee the compliance and risk management activities of the organization. I have successfully implemented audit policies and procedures, conducted financial and operational audits, and identified and resolved issues and risks. I have also enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of the audit processes and systems, and provided recommendations and insights to the management and stakeholders.

I have a strong academic background and a passion for accounting and finance. I hold a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Bedfordshire, where I conducted research on the impact of corporate governance and financial reporting on firm performance and valuation. I also have a MS in Accountancy and Finance from Birmingham City University, and a MBA and a BS in Finance and Statistics from Ahmadu Bello University. I have developed and honed my analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills through my education and work experience, and I am always eager to learn new things and expand my knowledge and skill set.

An experienced banker and civil servant with expertise in banking operations, marketing and relationship management, credit administration, debt recovery, budgeting, financial accounting, auditing, and the tendering process. Abubakar has authored articles for prestigious international journals such as Procedia-Social and Behavioral Sciences and Corporate Governance: An International Review Journal. Corporate Governance, Sustainable Development/Corporate Social Responsibility, and Budgeting are three of his research interests. Has a lot of portfolio management, coaching, and training expertise under his belt.
